That’s the thinking behind our new Adventure Awaits Care Package. Everything in the Solo Adventurer weighs just under 900g, which is less than a litre of water. It covers breakfast at the hut, snacks for the climb and something for the top, all from small New Zealand makers.
Start With Hot Water
A hot breakfast makes a cold hut morning feel a lot friendlier. Bushline porridge from Yum in Nelson Tasman needs nothing more than hot water. Yum took Gold at the 2025 NZ Artisan Awards, and you can read how they started in our supplier story.
Fuel for the Climb
Protein and salt keep your legs going when the track turns uphill. Gathered Game in Southland makes the wild venison deer sticks. QB Snacks in Nelson Tasman makes Crunchy Cheese from just cheese. Add a bag of Alexandra’s roasted nuts from Auckland and Titahi Bay sea salt crackers from Wellington, and you have lunch sorted without a chilly bin in sight.
Something for the Top
Every walk deserves a reward at the summit. Ours is a bean-to-bar Raglan Chocolate from Waikato and a Good Cookie from Little Bird Organics in Auckland.
Then there’s the drink, which you choose when you order. Blanche’s mānuka honey water from Northland comes in the no-alcohol box. For the end of the day at the hut, you can swap it for a Vino pouch of Pinot Noir or Pinot Gris from Canterbury, or two Mighty Mighty cocktails from Auckland.
